This is an outstanding opportunity to influence the on-going development of healthcare provision within the Irish Prison Service. The Irish Prison Service is seeking to fill a position of Executive Clinical Lead to ensure the maintenance of clinical governance in respect of healthcare provision and lead on the oversight and management of health and personal social services across the IPS estate. Located at the Irish Prison Service (IPS) Headquarters in Longford, the Executive Clinical Lead will be accountable for the oversight of healthcare resources, engaged both directly and indirectly, by the IPS and the transformation of these resource inputs into pre-planned and commensurate levels of service outputs, in line with the health needs of the prisoner population. They will also coordinate engagement in an independent review of prison health and personal social services and will be responsible for addressing deficits identified in the most recent report to the Irish Government on a visit to Ireland by the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment of Punishment (CPT, Sept 2014) and issues raised in the “Healthcare in Irish Prisons Report” by the late Judge Michael Reilly, Inspector of Prisons (November 2016. The Executive Clinical Lead will report directly to the Director of Care and Rehabilitation of the IPS. Salary Scale: €127,000.00. €129,800.00. €132,600.00.
