Abbott has six manufacturing facilities located in Clonmel, Cootehill, Donegal, Longford and Sligo and a third party manufacturing management operation in Sligo. It has commercial operations in Dublin and shared services in Dublin and Westport.Abbott serves the Irish market with a diverse range of health care products including diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals and branded generic pharmaceuticals. Abbott has been operating in Ireland since 1946. Abbott Diagnostics Division (ADD) Longford. Abbott established the first diagnostics manufacturing facility in Sligo in 1994 to manufacture blood-screening products and reagents. In 2004, Abbott Diagnostics operations in Ireland expanded with the opening of a second facility in Longford. The plant was first occupied in December 2004. Manufacturing commenced in March of the following year and the first product (Architect TSH) was launched in December of 2005. The Longford facility plays a key role in helping Abbott to meet the increasing global demand for diagnostic testing in areas such as infectious disease, cancer, thyroid and cardiovascular diseases. We currently have a vacancy for a Business Excellence Manager and this role will involve the following: Primary Function. Drive culture of Business Excellence, Change Management and idea generation at ADD Longford. Be responsible for developing and managing of Business Excellence throughout ADD Longford through engagement with all departments. Major Responsibilities. Successfully support the BEX group to manage all assigned Site & Divisional Specific Projects. Lead BEX Group to ensure assigned projects are completed on time and deliver cost savings as agreed per project. Drive for operational excellence Complete benchmarking both within Abbott and within other industries to determine best in class. Lead and Manage the Value Stream Mapping of processes across all departments to identify improvement opportunities. Responsible for regularly communicating project achievements and progress to site management and project teams. Work collaboratively with the site director and senior staff to develop projects for the site PPM within ADD Longford. Evaluate impact of project changes and adjust implementation activities as required. Identify and communicate any project related issues to Site Director and Management Team and develop contingencies. Ensure the project meets the Quality requirements of its customers, ADD, ISO/EN auditors and other external agencies by ensuring adherence to the required procedures. Ensure safety standards are met and safe working practices are adhered to. Ensure goals and growth plans are in place for all members of the BEX Team and complete performance reviews for all direct reports. Operate within project budget requirements and highlight any deficiencies in resource requirements. Maintain ETMS TO DO LIST. Conduct business in a manner that will protect human health, safety and the environment by complying with all applicable EHS laws, as well at the Abbott Global and Technical standards. Third level qualification preferably in Science / Business or Engineering discipline as this experience / level of education provides a necessary foundation for this job function. Five years postgraduate experience in a commercial manufacturing environment. Key Skills. The following experience provides a necessary foundation for this Job function: ·Strong strategy development and planning skills coupled with necessary knowledge of diagnostics technical, operational and supply activities. ·Recognized project management experience – Six Sigma / BEX experience / or equivalent preferred. Six Sigma Blackbelt certification preferred. ·Five years postgraduate experience in a commercial manufacturing environment. ·Strong influencing & communication skills are essential. Accountability. ·Accountable for the successful integration of BEX and LEAN culture throughout the Longford site. ·Has set targets and goals to achieve each year, these are agreed in advance with the Site Director. ·Accountable for total project scope, completion within budget constraints and scheduled target dates.
