APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR APPOINTMENT TO THE POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES IN THE IRISH PRISON SERVICE (IPS) The Irish Prison Service (IPS) is responsible for the provision of safe and secure custody, dignity of care and rehabilitation to people in custody for safer communities. The IPS operates as an executive office within the Department of Justice and Equality and is a key component in our country’s Criminal Justice system. It employs some 3,400 uniformed and civilian staff .  Currently, the IPS (the Estate) is made up of 12 prisons; 10 closed Prisons (Arbour Hill, Castlerea, Cloverhill, Cork, Dochás, Limerick, Midlands, Mountjoy, Portlaoise, and Wheatfield) and two Open Centres (Loughan House and Shelton Abbey).  Typically, the IPS manages approximately 4,000 people in custody at any one ti me, both male and female, aged 18 and over. IPS Headquarters (HQ) is located in Longford. HQ is made up of five Directorates including Care and Rehabilitati on, Operati ons, Human Resources, Finance, Estates  and Information Communications Technology, and Corporate Services.  The Irish Prison Service is now seeking to fi ll one key member of their senior management team, the Director of Human Resources. Located at the IPS Headquarters in Longford, the Director is a critical and diverse position playing a central role in the achievement of the Service’s strategic objectives. The successful candidate from this competi ti on will be appointed to serve in the Headquarters of the Irish Prison Service in Longford.  The closing date and ti me for applicati ons is 3.00pm, 23rd June 2022.
