Senior Tooling Engineer - County Longford. In this role you will be the Tooling Engineer for new and refurbishment tooling programs. You will help quote and select vendors for tool build, and then provide knowledgeable input to the design, track mould build, and procure measurement fixtures. In addition, you will be responsible for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and tuning the mould to meet the specifications of the part print. Transitioning the mould to production. Core Duties & Responsibilities : • Primary responsibility will be to manage the build and tuning of moulds (through Design, IQ, OQ, PQ) and therefore good documentation practices are required. • Analyse plastic part prints and specifications to identify issues and provide solutions. • Interact and communicate with customers, suppliers, and operational personnel to achieve business opportunities and assist product design solutions. • Assist in the maintenance and constantly improve tooling. • Track new and replacement tool quotations, vendor specialty, and vendor activity to manage vendor selection. • Oversee tool build and approvals to production, working with customers, tool shops and site personnel. • Support operation requirements with tooling and production engineering, problem identification, troubleshooting, resolution, and continuous improvement efforts. • Generation of improvement efforts and cost saving opportunities related to tooling and present to management. • Assists sales in evaluating e.g. cycle times and processes. Interested applicants should have: • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the plastics industry, with an emphasis on moulding and mould design improvement. • Injection moulding process knowledge. Mechanical aptitude, leadership, and Project Management skills are required along with good communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
